2. 5G Test Bed:
   With an objective to boost 5G ecosystem within India and to achieve the objectives of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives, Government of India has decided to offer the use of Indigenous 5G Test Bed free of cost to the Indian Government recognized start-ups and MSMEs for the next six months upto Jan, 2023.

The 5G Test Bed is available at five locations viz., Integrated Test Bed at CEWiT /IIT Madras and other Test Beds are at IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Kanpur and IISc Bangalore. CEWiT /IIT Madras offers end to end Test Bed with various testing services for RAN Level, PHY Level etc. and other Test equipment. IIT Hyderabad has facilities for gNB Testing, UE Testing, end to end interoperability testing and NB-IoT testing, while IISC Bangalore hosts the V2X and 5G open-source testbed, IIT Kanpur hosts the base-band Test Bed and IIT Delhi hosts the NB-IoT and VLC Test Bed.

The end-to-end test bed is compliant with the global 3GPP standard and the ORAN standard. Indigenous 5G Test Bed provides an open 5G test bed that enables R&D teams of Indian academia and industry to validate their products, prototypes, algorithms and demonstrate various services. Further, it provides complete access for research teams to work on novel concepts/ideas holding potential for standardization in India and on global scale. It provides the facilities of 5G networks for experimenting and demonstrating applications/use cases of importance to Indian society like rural broadband, smart city applications and intelligent transport system (ITS) and shall help to Indian operators to understand the working of 5G technologies and plan their future networks.

The development of this Indigenous Test Bed is a key milestone step for India’s becoming self-reliant in the 5G Technology domain and now leading towards 5G Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This Test Bed is providing the Indigenous capability for testing and validation of 5G products being developed and manufactured by Indian start-ups, MSME, R&D, Academia and industry users. This has resulted in huge cost efficiency and reduced design time due to which Indian 5G products are likely to become market competitive globally.

The development of this Test Bed has also resulted into development of many 5G Technologies/IPs which are available for technology transfer to Industry players which shall facilitate the Industry players for smooth and speedy deployment of 5G in India.

स्वदेशी 5G टेस्ट बेड:
भारतात 5G परिसंस्थेला चालना देण्याच्या उद्देशाने आणि आत्मनिर्भर भारत आणि मेक इन इंडिया उपक्रमांची उद्दिष्टे साध्य करण्यासाठी, केंद्र सरकारने सरकार मान्यताप्राप्त स्टार्ट-अप आणि एमएसएमईसाठी पुढील सहा महिन्यांकरिता जानेवारी 2023 पर्यंत स्वदेशी 5G टेस्ट बेड मोफत वापरायला देण्याचा निर्णय घेतला आहे.

5G टेस्ट बेड पाच ठिकाणी उपलब्ध आहे उदा., एकात्मिक टेस्ट बेड CEWiT/IIT मद्रास येथे आणि इतर टेस्ट बेड IIT दिल्ली, IIT हैदराबाद, IIT कानपूर आणि IISc बंगलोर येथे आहेत. CEWiT/IIT मद्रास RAN लेव्हल, PHY लेव्हल इ. आणि इतर चाचणी उपकरणांसाठी विविध चाचणी सेवांसह एंड टू एंड टेस्ट बेड ऑफर करते. IIT हैदराबादमध्ये gNB टेस्टिंग, UE टेस्टिंग, एंड टू एंड इंटरऑपरेबिलिटी टेस्टिंग आणि NB-IoT टेस्टिंगसाठी सुविधा आहेत, तर IISC बंगलोरमध्ये V2X आणि 5G ओपन-सोर्स टेस्टिंग, IIT कानपूरमध्ये बेस-बँड टेस्ट बेड आणि IIT दिल्ली NB -IoT आणि VLC चाचणी बेड होस्ट करते.

या स्वदेशी चाचणी बेडचा विकास हा भारताच्या 5G तंत्रज्ञान क्षेत्रात स्वावलंबी होण्यासाठी आणि आता 5G आत्मनिर्भर भारताकडे नेणारा एक महत्त्वाचा टप्पा आहे. हे टेस्ट बेड भारतीय स्टार्ट-अप, MSME, R&D, अकादमी आणि उद्योग वापरकर्त्यांद्वारे विकसित आणि उत्पादित केलेल्या 5G उत्पादनांच्या चाचणी आणि प्रमाणीकरणासाठी स्वदेशी क्षमता प्रदान करत आहे. यामुळे प्रचंड खर्चाची कार्यक्षमता आणि डिझाइनचा वेळ कमी झाला आहे ज्यामुळे भारतीय 5G उत्पादने जागतिक स्तरावर बाजारपेठेत स्पर्धात्मक होण्याची शक्यता आहे.

या स्वदेशी टेस्ट बेडचा विकास 5G तंत्रज्ञान क्षेत्रात आत्मनिर्भर होण्यासाठी आणि 5G आत्मनिर्भर भारताकडे नेणारा महत्त्वाचा टप्पा आहे. हे टेस्ट बेड भारतीय स्टार्ट-अप, एमएसएमई , शैक्षणिक आणि उद्योग वापरकर्त्यांद्वारे विकसित आणि उत्पादित 5G उत्पादनांच्या चाचणी आणि प्रमाणीकरणासाठी स्वदेशी क्षमता पुरवते. यामुळे खर्चात कपात आणि डिझाइनचा वेळ कमी झाला आहे ज्यामुळे भारतीय 5G उत्पादने जागतिक स्तरावर बाजारपेठेत स्पर्धात्मक बनतील अशी अपेक्षा आहे.

3. JOINT EXERCISE WITH US SPECIAL FORCES:
   The 13th Edition of the Indo-US Joint Special Forces exercise “Ex Vajra Prahar 2022” commenced at the Special Forces Training School (SFTS), Bakloh (HP) today. The US contingent is represented by personnel from the 1st Special Forces Group (SFG) and Special Tactics Squadron (STS) of US Special Forces and the Indian Army contingent is formed by drawing Special Forces personnel under the aegis of SFTS.

The Vajra Prahar series of joint exercise aims to share best practices and experiences in areas such as joint mission planning and operational tactics as also to improve inter-operability between the Special Forces of both the Nations. This annual exercise is hosted alternatively between India and the United States. The 12th edition was conducted at Joint Base Lewis Mcchord, Washington (USA) in October 2021.

During the course of next 21 days, teams of both armies would jointly train, plan and execute a series of Special Operations, Counter Terrorist Operations, Air Borne operations in simulated conventional and unconventional scenarios in mountainous terrain.

This joint exercise is a significant step in strengthening the traditional bond of friendship between the special forces of both Nations as well as improve bilateral defence cooperation between India and the USA.

यूएस स्पेशल फोर्ससह संयुक्त व्यायाम:
भारत-अमेरिका संयुक्त विशेष सैन्याच्‍या 13व्‍या आवृत्तीचा “एक्स वज्र प्रहार 2022” स्‍पेशल फोर्स ट्रेनिंग स्‍कूल (SFTS), बकलोह (HP) येथे आज प्रारंभ झाला. यूएस स्पेशल फोर्सेस ग्रुप (SFG) आणि यूएस स्पेशल फोर्सेसच्या स्पेशल टॅक्टिक्स स्क्वॉड्रन (STS) मधील जवानांद्वारे यूएस तुकडीचे प्रतिनिधित्व केले जाते आणि भारतीय लष्कराची तुकडी SFTS च्या आश्रयाखाली विशेष दलाचे कर्मचारी तयार करून तयार केली जाते.

संयुक्त सरावाच्या वज्र प्रहार मालिकेचा उद्देश संयुक्त मोहिमेचे नियोजन आणि ऑपरेशनल रणनीती यांसारख्या क्षेत्रातील सर्वोत्तम सराव आणि अनुभव सामायिक करणे तसेच दोन्ही राष्ट्रांच्या विशेष दलांमधील आंतर-कार्यक्षमता सुधारणे हा आहे. या वार्षिक सरावाचे आयोजन भारत आणि युनायटेड स्टेट्स दरम्यान केले जाते. 12 वी आवृत्ती ऑक्टोबर 2021 मध्ये जॉइंट बेस लुईस मॅककॉर्ड, वॉशिंग्टन (यूएसए) येथे आयोजित करण्यात आली होती.

पुढील 21 दिवसांच्या कालावधीत, दोन्ही सैन्य दल संयुक्तपणे विशेष ऑपरेशन्स, काउंटर टेररिस्ट ऑपरेशन्स, एअर बोर्न ऑपरेशन्सच्या मालिकेचे प्रशिक्षण, योजना आखतील आणि अंमलात आणतील.

हा संयुक्त सराव दोन्ही राष्ट्रांच्या विशेष दलांमधील मैत्रीचे पारंपारिक बंध दृढ करण्यासाठी तसेच भारत आणि अमेरिका यांच्यातील द्विपक्षीय संरक्षण सहकार्य सुधारण्यासाठी एक महत्त्वपूर्ण पाऊल आहे.

4. INDIAN ARMY LAUNCHES “HIM- DRONE-A-THON”:
   The Indian Army in collaboration with the Drone Federation of India has launched the ‘Him Drone-a-thon’ programme on 08 August 22. This initiative in line with Atmanirbharta in defence manufacturing is aimed to catalyse and provide focused opportunities to the Indian drone ecosystem to develop path-breaking drone capabilities for meeting requirements of frontline troops.

The Indian Army’s support to the indigenous drone ecosystem is based on the principle that ‘good available indigenously’ is better than the ‘best available globally’. However, gradual enhancement in technology demanded by defence forces is likely to incentivise manufacture of better and more capable drone products.

The ‘Him Drone-a-thon’ programme is pan India sustained connect between all stake holders including industry, academia, software developers and drone product manufacturers. It will be conducted in stages with quantifiable parameters (like altitude, weight, range, endurance etc) being progressively enhanced based on demonstrated capabilities. Broad activities planned include interactions & ideation between users, development agencies, academia etc, seeking of industry responses, visits by development agencies to operational locations to understand the ground perspective & requirements, handholding of development agencies for internal development & on-ground trials and actual conduct & evaluation of drone products.

As a start point, development in the following categories are included:-

• Logistics/ Load carrying Drone in High Altitude Areas.
• Autonomous Surveillance/ Search & Rescue Drone.
• Micro/ Nano Drones for Fighting in Built Up Areas.

भारतीय सैन्याने “हिम-ड्रोन-ए-थॉन” लाँच केले:
भारतीय लष्कराने ड्रोन फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडियाच्या सहकार्याने 08 ऑगस्ट 22 रोजी ‘हिम ड्रोन-ए-थॉन’ कार्यक्रम सुरू केला आहे. संरक्षण उत्पादनातील आत्मनिर्भरताच्या अनुषंगाने या उपक्रमाचा उद्देश भारतीय ड्रोन इकोसिस्टमला आघाडीवर असलेल्या सैन्याच्या गरजा पूर्ण करण्यासाठी पथ-ब्रेकिंग ड्रोन क्षमता विकसित करण्यासाठी उत्प्रेरित करणे आणि केंद्रित संधी प्रदान करणे आहे.

स्वदेशी ड्रोन इकोसिस्टमला भारतीय लष्कराचा पाठिंबा ‘स्वदेशी उपलब्ध असलेले चांगले’ हे ‘जागतिक स्तरावर उपलब्ध असलेल्या सर्वोत्तम’पेक्षा चांगले आहे या तत्त्वावर आधारित आहे. तथापि, संरक्षण दलांनी मागणी केलेल्या तंत्रज्ञानामध्ये हळूहळू वाढ केल्याने उत्तम आणि अधिक सक्षम ड्रोन उत्पादनांच्या निर्मितीला प्रोत्साहन मिळण्याची शक्यता आहे.

‘हिम ड्रोन-ए-थॉन’ कार्यक्रम हा संपूर्ण भारतातील उद्योग, शैक्षणिक, सॉफ्टवेअर डेव्हलपर्स आणि ड्रोन उत्पादन निर्मात्यांसह सर्व भागधारक यांच्यात कायम संपर्क आहे. हे प्रात्यक्षिक क्षमतेच्या आधारे क्रमश: वर्धित करून परिमाणयोग्य मापदंडांसह (जसे की उंची, वजन, श्रेणी, सहनशक्ती इ.) टप्प्याटप्प्याने आयोजित केले जाईल. नियोजित व्यापक क्रियाकलापांमध्ये वापरकर्ते, विकास संस्था, शैक्षणिक संस्था इत्यादींमधील परस्परसंवाद आणि विचारसरणी, उद्योगांच्या प्रतिसादांची मागणी, जमिनीचा दृष्टीकोन आणि आवश्यकता समजून घेण्यासाठी विकास एजन्सींच्या ऑपरेशनल ठिकाणांना भेटी, अंतर्गत विकासासाठी विकास एजन्सींना हाताशी धरणे आणि जमिनीवर चाचण्या, ड्रोन उत्पादनांचे आचरण आणि मूल्यांकनचा समावेश आहे

प्रारंभ बिंदू म्हणून, खालील श्रेणींमध्ये विकास समाविष्ट केला आहे:-

• उच्च उंचीच्या भागात लॉजिस्टिक/ लोड वाहून नेणारे ड्रोन.
• स्वायत्त पाळत ठेवणे/शोध आणि बचाव ड्रोन.
• बांधलेल्या भागात लढण्यासाठी मायक्रो/नॅनो ड्रोन.

5. Defence Start-Ups:
   Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) framework was launched by the Government with the aim to foster innovation and technology development in Defence and Aerospace Sector by engaging Industries including MSMEs, start-ups, individual innovators, R&D institutes and academia and promote self-reliance. Under iDEX framework so far, seven editions of Defence India Start-up Challenge (DISC) have been launched.

Under the iDEX route, the Government focuses on innovation and design & development and supports the start-ups and innovators for successful prototype development. Large number of start-ups have participated in various rounds of Defence India Start-up Challenge. So far, 136 start-ups have been engaged and 102 contracts have been signed for prototype development. Moreover, the Ministry has also accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for 14 iDEX products, paving the way for placement of orders on the iDEX winners.

The Government has approved a central sector scheme for iDEX with budgetary support of Rs 498.78 crore for the five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26. The problem statements emanating from defence forces are launched under iDEX framework for development of technology and prototypes thus, addressing the real time problems of defence forces.

संरक्षण स्टार्ट-अप:
MSMEs, स्टार्ट-अप, वैयक्तिक नवोन्मेषक, R&D संस्था आणि शैक्षणिक संस्थांसह उद्योगांना गुंतवून संरक्षण आणि एरोस्पेस क्षेत्रातील नाविन्यपूर्ण आणि तंत्रज्ञान विकासाला चालना देण्याच्या उद्देशाने संरक्षण उत्कृष्टतेसाठी (iDEX) फ्रेमवर्क सरकारने सुरू केले आणि स्वावलंबनाला प्रोत्साहन दिले. iDEX फ्रेमवर्क अंतर्गत, आतापर्यंत डिफेन्स इंडिया स्टार्ट-अप चॅलेंज (DISC) च्या सात आवृत्त्या सुरू केल्या आहेत.

iDEX मार्गांतर्गत, सरकार नावीन्यपूर्ण आणि डिझाइन आणि विकासावर लक्ष केंद्रित करते आणि यशस्वी नमुना विकासासाठी स्टार्ट-अप आणि नवकल्पकांना समर्थन देते. डिफेन्स इंडिया स्टार्ट-अप चॅलेंजच्या विविध फेऱ्यांमध्ये मोठ्या संख्येने स्टार्ट अप्सनी भाग घेतला आहे. आत्तापर्यंत, 136 स्टार्ट-अप गुंतलेले आहेत आणि प्रोटोटाइप विकासासाठी 102 करारांवर स्वाक्षरी करण्यात आली आहे. शिवाय, मंत्रालयाने 14 iDEX उत्पादनांसाठी आवश्यकतेची स्वीकृती (AoN) देखील दिली आहे, ज्यामुळे iDEX विजेत्यांना ऑर्डर देण्याचा मार्ग मोकळा झाला आहे.
