New syllabus for Rajyaseva Prelims has been introduced from 2013. Here it is : New Syllabus
[For MPSC Rajyaseva Prelims 2011 – Study Plan- ClickHERE]
This following plan was for Prelims 2010 so do not get confused. Click on the above link for Prelims 2011 exam Plan.
This study plan is for candidates who have not yet started their preparation.
Actual Time Available For Preparation: 61 Days (1st March 2010 to 30th Apr 2010) + 7 Days (1st May 2010 to 7th May 2010)
After a careful research of the previous years question papers, I have listed the following subjects/topics that were given importance in the question papers. The number of days allotted are according to the trend of the subject/topic in the question papers.
Total Subjects/Topics to be Prepared: – 10
- Vidhnyan and Abhiyantriki (Science and Technology)
- Vaanijya and Arthvyavastha (Commerce and Economics)
- Bhugol (Geography)
- Krushi (Agriculture)
- Bhartiya Rajyapaddhati (Indian Polity)
- Jagtik Ghadamodi (Current Affairs – National and International)
- Buddhimapan (Mental Ability)
- Itihaas (History)
- Samaj Sudharak (Social Reformers)
- Gram Prashasan (Village Administration – Local Administration)
Since there is a lot to study in these 2 months time period, you must read carefully every subject/topic, within this limited period. You cannot afford to take everything at once and start reading. Neither can you study multiple subject everyday else you will mix up everything. The best strategy is to take up one subject and study carefully, finish it and then take another subject. This way you will spend a number of days on one subject and cover every topic/sub-topic of that subject.
Following is a trend of asking questions on specific subject/topics. The following table shows the numbers of questions were asked in 2008 and 2009 MPSC State Services Prelims Examination.
SUBJECT/TOPIC | 2009 | 2008
Kala Ghatak (Art Subjects) | 49 | Distribution of Marks | 48 | Distribution of Marks |

Bhartiya Rajyapaddhati (Indian Polity) | 11 | 11
Gram Prashasan (Local Administration) | 3 | 5
Vidhnyan & Abhiyantriki (S & T) | 30 | 26
Vaanijya & Arthvyavastha (Comm & Econ) | 30 | 34
KrushiGhatak (Agriculture) | 24 | 30
JagtikGhadamodi (Current Affairs) | 17 | 12
Buddhimapan(Mental Ability) | 50 | 50
TOTAL QUESTIONS | 200 | 200 |
According to the above question trend, I have allotted number of days to each subject according to its importance in the examination. You should plan your study accordingly.
SUBJECT/TOPICS DAYS TO BE ALLOTTED FOR PREPARATION
- Vidhnyan and Abhiyantriki (Science and Technology) : 10 Days

During the above period while preparing, you must read carefully and make small notes on full-scale papers. Write in very small letters so that maximum notes can be written. You will need these notes for quick revision in May 2010. Do not write everything. You should read and understand everything and make very small (point-to-point notes) in 1 or 2 lines. Contact me for my own notes to see (scanned copies to show you how to make notes).
Final REVISION
1st May – 7th May should be for revising your subjects’ notes. You must utilize whole day for study since all main points needs to be read for a given subject/topic during the whole day.

@Shubham, you should follow these guidelines: https://anilmd.wordpress.com/other/12th-std-pass-students-should-prepare-this-way/
for police sub inspector post, is it true that if some candidate has undergone some surgery or say hand fracture he is not going to be considered. or is it like only the preliminary physical test are required.
@Omi, if the hand or limb that has undergone surgery is perfectly OK and doesn’t cause any hindrance in performing normal duties then there is no problem at all. Please consult your Civil Surgeon about this in nearby Govt Hospital.

@Amit, here is the information:
The Indian Administrative Service (IAS): The IAS officers handle the affairs of the government. At the Central level, their job involves the framing and implementation of policies. At the district level, they manage the affairs of the district, including development related activities. At the divisional level, they look after law and order, general administration and development work.
Progression of IAS officers in State and Center Government and their time scales are as follows –
Junior Time Scale is the entry-level.
Senior Time Scale (four years of service) that is equivalent to an Under Secretary.
Junior Administrative Grade (nine years of service) or the Deputy Secretaries
Selection Grade (13 years of service) or the Directors
Joint Secretary (GOI)
Additional Secretary (GOI)
Secretary (GOI) is the highest rank
Cabinet Secretary is the controller
The State Governments however possess a kind of influence to post these officers. Normally when an IAS officer joins the State, he is placed as a Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM). Preferably the official is to be given the charge of a District after completing 9 years of service and entering the Junior Administrative Grade but in certain States, even younger IAS officers are given the responsibility of Districts (Known as District Magistrates (DM), Deputy Commissioners (DCs) or Collectors).
The Indian Police Service (IPS): The IPS officer’s job mainly involves maintaining law and order. (At the district level, they share this responsibility with the IAS officers.) The IPS officer is responsible for ensuring public safety and security; crime detection and prevention; and traffic control and accident prevention and management. There are several functional departments that help IPS officers to carry out their duties. They are:
Crime Branch
Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
Home Guards
Traffic Bureau
