This is very important so please read this appeal entirely.
I have seen (since 1983) that lots of UPSC and later on MPSC aspirants make attempts at various exams (like UPSC Civil Services, MPSC State Services i.e. Rajyaseva, MPSC PSI, MPSC STI, MPSC Asst, etc.). This is good because everyone should have back-up plans. If one fails at one exam may have chances with other so there is no harm in doing so but there is something that can be termed as social crime and anyone amongst you may have been committing this social crime.
You already know that everyone (exam aspirants) spends very valuable time of his/her life in the preparation of these exams followed by hardships and many adjustments. Some of them keep on preparing for years and years.
When someone fails at any stage (Prelims/Mains/Interview or Physical Test/Interview) of these exams, (s)he feels very bad because of the efforts went in vain. Lots of them leave their dreams as they think that it is of no use even after struggling so hard for a long period.
Anyone, who fails at not making to the merit list, may think that it was his/her fault but the truth is that there is someone who is responsible for this and that might be YOU.
Here is an example to explain what I mean to say:
Once upon a time in India, there was a person named Sandhisadhu (an opportunist).
He appeared for PSI, STI, Asst and Rajyaseva Exam.
He cleared PSI Mains and was selected for Physical Test + Interview. Later on he also cleared STI, Asst exams. He started thinking “what if I don’t clear Physical Test?”, “What if I don’t get selected for STI?”, “What if I became Deputy Collector?”
He cleared the PSI Interview and his name featured in the merit list and was soon expecting a call for joining the PSI training at Maharashtra Police Academy, Nasik.
Soon after that Sandhisadhu was lucky enough to clear STI and Asst exams, too.
He felt relieved that his efforts paid off and he is selected for all these posts.
Sandhisadhu was dreaming now. He thought of joining STI but soon after few days, MPSC declared result of Rajyaseva and he was selected for the post of Deputy Collector.
Wow!!! What an achievement Sirji !!!
At last Sandhisadhu decided to join as Deputy Collector to fulfill his long cherished dream!!!
But during this period he was responsible for spoiling dreams of about 26 to 28 young, deserving, hard working people who could not get a chance to prove themselves just because of the selfishness of this Sandhisadhu!!!
By NOT joining as STI, this Sandhisadhu snatched bright chances from 11 or 12 people. (For STI Mains, the ratio of selection (at the time of Prelims) is 1:12 or 1:13)
By NOT joining as Asst, this Sandhisadhu snatched bright chances from 11 or 12 people. (For Asst Mains, the ratio of selection (at the time of Prelims) is 1:12 or 1:13)
By NOT joining as PSI this Sandhisadhu snatched bright chances from 2 people. (For PSI Interview, the ratio of selection is 1:3)
So he looted the bright future of so many people (26to 28).
Sandhisadhu committed this social crime of snatching opportunities meant only for deserving candidates.
What a shameful act on the part of Sandhisadhu!!!
If he was so sure of achieving his dream of Deputy Collector then:
He could have surrendered his PSI seat well before the Physical Test and Interview.
He could have surrendered his STI seat well before the Main Exam.
He could have surrendered his Asst seat well before the Main Exam.
If a candidate doesn’t join post/service, chance goes to the next person but what about the 26 or 28 people who were demoralised at the time of not getting a fair chance for Main exam or Interview just because Sandhisadhu was chosen for STI/Asst/PSI post?
Therefore, my sincere appeal to all of you is to decide what you want to become and vacate your seat well before the final round so that opportunities go to others. Doing this will not only save you from committing a social crime but you can stop misusing Government property which goes wasted during the selection process (in case you plan to follow what Sandhisadhu did).

I have given exam & interview for DYSP technical post through direct recruitment. I couldn’t get recommendation as there was only one post for open and I was 2nd on merit list. Now the selected candidate has not joined the service. Can I get chance for this post because i am the next candidate merit wise?

Sir I would like. Know what is time gap between date of declaration of result and joining for post for selected candidates in mpsc

Suffering from this badly sir. Though having same score as other candidate he got selected but I did not. When will mpsc do with waiting list God knows.
Sir, well put forth. Last yr’s state services exam’s result is not declared yet.. All those who might hav got through it ,qualified candidates wil reappear 4 this yr’s ss exam.. Won’t they? They are blockers… There must b limit 4 attempts. I have seen so many candidates who had got short of few marks 2 get through d cutoffs. They ended their hope..
SIR , WHAT U HAVE WRITTEN IS TRUE. I WANT TO SHARE MY VIEW ALSO -I HAVE SEEN ONE SANDHISADHU WHO HAVE TOPPED THE CHARTS AT STI, ASST, PSI AND RAJYASEVA EXAM BUT STILL HE APPEARED FOR NEXT YEARS EXAM AND ALSO CLEARED THEM BUT HAVE NOT JOINED ANY POST. NOW HE IS COMPETING FOR DEPUTY COLLECTOR’S POST.WHAT SORT OF JOY HE IS GETTING ONLY GOD KNOWS? ONE SOLUTION FOR THIS IS IF ANYBODY GOT SELECTED FOR ANY POST HE/SHE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO REAPPEAR FOR THE SAME.
You say that It’s social crime to give a sevral exam and aquired seat, I also think that. But, everyone wants to secure his life. I think that MPSC has to give Waiting List which will be the better solution for this.
@Pratik, that is why UPSC has included a new paper called “Ethics” in their Mains exam so they will test people to find out who does unethical things or have an inclination towards such practices. Everyone has a right to secure his future but not at the cost of others.
I completely agree with you sir. All the things you say are absolultly right.
But I want to only say that MPSC has to give waiting list. Eg. STI mains is on 22 Sep and Asst mains is on 29 Sep, so there are to many people’s who giving both exams. there is no interview, so that chances of selected in both is got increases. So I only think that MPSC have to give waiting list.
@Pranit, yes, MPSC is expected to start releasing waiting list very soon. There has been an initiative from Central Information Officer and soon it will be implemented by MPSC.
a. Hats off for pointing out sucha ‘social crime’. Aspirants should have moral values and ethics; plus this competitive milieu intensifies the cause.
b. Sir there are ways to plug such loopholes. UPSC releases Reserved Merit List…Even MPSC should follow suit. (Or follow UPSC’s steps like they disallow a candidate for civils once he clears IAS or IFS)
